In Part 1, we covered the skincare steps that prep your skin before makeup. Once your sunscreen has settled, you're ready for the next two steps: base and lashes.
1. Cushion — Even, Buildable Coverage
Cushion goes on after your skincare, once sunscreen has fully absorbed. Dab lightly with the puff and build up coverage only where you need it, rather than applying one heavy layer all over.
Can you skip it? Yes — on no-makeup days or when you just want a skin-first look, skip straight to lashes or finish with sunscreen alone.
2. Mascara — The Final Finishing Touch
Mascara is always the last step, applied once your base has set so it doesn't smudge against your fingers while blending. Curl lashes first, then apply from root to tip in light strokes.
Can you skip it? Only if you're going for a bare, no-makeup look. Otherwise, it's the step that pulls the whole face together.
And that's the full routine from Part 1 to Part 2: toner, essence, serum, cream, sunscreen, cushion, and mascara — in the order that actually works.
